Alcohol Ink Background

Hello everyone, Digital DT member Laura here to share with you a fun "candy cane" striped background done with alcohol inks and some blending solution on the Craftin Desert Divas Blog. I had so much fun playing with this technique and I made several that you will see in the future but I chose this one to share with you today. I paired it with the Snow Cup Cutie digital stamp from Craftin Desert Divas.

I started with some YUPO paper, which is a plastic coated type cardstock that works perfectly for this technique. I am traveling and didn't have my blender tools with me so I had to improvise and used some quilt batting that my Mother had. It actually worked extremely well! I cut a rectangle of it and dropped a red dot of Alcohol ink, then a white, then a red in a line ( I used Santa Fe Red and White Pinata brand alcohol inks). I had pictures of this but they disappeared into thin air. I then squirted some blending solution (I used Adirondack brand by Tim Holtz) in a line across all 3 dots then I swiped downward on the YUPO to make my stripes. I was very happy with the candy cane stripes that appeared! I let it dry overnight and then cut it down to size. I printed off the digital Snow Cup Cutie stamp and colored with my Zig Real Clean markers. Next I cut it out and added it to my background for a fun and festive winter card!

There are so many fun techniques you can do with alchohol inks, I hope I have inspired you to try this one!

December Mood Board Challenge

I love this month's mood board inspiration at Craftin Desert Divas. It is so peaceful, elegant, and calming. I took all of that and wrapped it into this digital candle set card. I started by printing off my image and coloring it with zig markers. I used my Dove Blender to blend them out. I used nuvo gold drops and some glitter on the candles for added effect. I added some distress ink and cut a mat from red cardstock which I embossed with the cuttlebug. I cut some circle frames and added distress oxide ink to them. I put it all together with my ATG tape runner. I added some Berry Christmas sequins to finish it off. I hope I have inspired you to join us in the challenge. Be sure to use #cddmonthly if you do and share with us in the Facebook group: Craftin Desert Divas Gallery.

A hot chocolate kind of day

Well today I am running late. This was supposed to be posted by 3 for the Coffee Lover's Blog Hop featuring Hot Cocoa day. I am just now posting it but it also fits into The Color Throwdown Challenge I love these sweet colors!  I used Lori Whitlock's Christmas Kisses gift card holder and Newton's Nook stamps (Cup of Cocoa) for the stamped images. What a fun treat for a special friend! #ctd473

Cup of Cheer

Hello! It's starting to get cold again and the perfect weather for some hot cocoa. I used the stamp set Cup of Cocoa from Newton's Nook to create this card. I used the Sorted Shapes 1 stencil from Craftin Desert Divas for the hexagon shape done in Lucky Clover distress oxide ink. I colored my mugs with zig markers. I added the frame around the outside with the Inside scalloped rectangle dies from Craftin Desert Divas. For the final touches I added some wink of stella to the hearts and whipped cream, and some snowflake chunky glitter from the dollar section of Target. I really like how festive this turned out :)

Coffee Time!

The winter coffee hop is well on it's way. I am a bit behind on posting projects because of Christmas shopping...LOL Today I made a double mini coffee holder and used Newton's Nook Winston's Home for Christmas stamp set. It is totally adorable! I cut a tag with my silhouette and stamped the sentiment on it. I hung it with some twine. I love how rustic and fun this turned out! I got my template for the coffee cup tote from Paper Sweeties I would encourage you to buy it if you are making a lot of these. It makes it very quick and easy!

Happy Holidays December Mood Board

Hello, today I am sharing my first mood board challenge of December from Craftin Desert Divas with you.

I started with some red cardstock, stamped it using the snowflake from the Arctic Pals stamp set and embossed with white powder. I colored and added nuvo sparkle dust to the church and trees and while that dried I took the largest die cut and created the point on the card front.

I cut a scalloped rectangle for the inside panel and stamped it with a sentiment from Holiday Sweaters set.
I put it all together and this is the final result!

I hope you have a peaceful and calm day!

Happy Holidays

Hello everyone, today I am sharing a fun card that I did using the following inspirational challenge at Cupcake Inspiratios.

I started by picking my stamp sets. I chose the digital Winter Village set for the houses and the lamp post. I chose to use the Teddy and Snowbear from the Arctic Pals set, and the sentiment from the Holiday Sweaters set all by Craftin Desert Divas. I love to mix both digital and physical stamps so this was a great opportunity for that. I colored the houses with zig waterbrush markers and added some Nuvo Glitter Accents for the snow on the rooftops. I used the fall border die cuts for the snowbanks cut from glittered cardstock. I stamped the sentiment in black ink and then added foam tape between the layers for added dimension. I then added the houses to the snowbanks to create my scene.  I finished it off by framing it using the largest die from the Inside Scalloped Edges die set.

And that is my finished card for this challenge! I love how it came out and all the sparkle it has in real life.
