Meeting Santa

WOOHOO, I might not make it the whole year, but I am starting the New Year off right!! Happy 2015 everyone. I am meeting my first resolution and posting my first page of the year. This is a digital scrapbook page that uses Kristin Cronin-Barrow's A Christmas Wonderland Collection found at Sweet Shoppe Designs. I am so in love with this set of pictures that I took on a snowy morning. I can't wait to scrap the rest of them. Did you know that taking pictures when the sun is not shining is actually the best time to take pictures? Just use a fill flash on your camera and you will have success!!! Happy New Year everyone. May 2015 be as blessed as 2014 was, and even more so.

It's almost here...are YOU ready??

It's almost time to ring in a new year again. Where in the world did the past year go?? It seems the older I get the faster the years fly by. I was told over and over that happens and not to blink an eye because my babies would be grown up before I knew it, but honestly I didn't pay too much attention....until now. Now it is hitting me that next Christmas I will have a JUNIOR in high school... say what....WOW!!! I remember when she was in preschool. I will also be getting ready for another 8th grade graduation party for our son, I just had Cassandra's didn't I?? Makayla will be turning 2, yes TWO. Anyway with all of these thoughts racing through my head it has left me with the resolve this year to actually make a resolution. I am NOT a fan of resolutions, but this year I feel that I need to put a few goals in place. So to help keep me accountable, I am sharing a few of them with you :)

1. I will post here at least once a week.
2. I will craft more, share a tutorial, or a helpful tip here at least once a month.

So, have you been bitten by the resolution bug? If so, I would love to hear about it. If you post a  comment of one or more of your own personal resolutions you will be entered into a drawing for a special little stamp set! Let's make this a great new year!!

Stable Foundation

Hi everyone, I need to preface this post with this warning. The bow is NOT a good bow. There is one downfall I have and that is making bows. I do not have time to make another one today but wanted to go ahead and post this glass block as some people have been asking me about it. I love the saying and think it is very fitting. I will be redoing the bow, just not today. I have a toddler who seems to think getting into a LOT of things is on the list for the day. She is keeping me hopping for sure! Here is the block and I hope you like it as much as I do, minus the bow.

Thanksgiving Tray

I have a lot of these metal trays from the Dollar Tree leftover from a project I did for a craft fair last year that I ended up not attending due to an emergency, unplanned, c-section. I have been transforming them into faux chalkboards and plan to give some as gifts. This one I did for our buffet for Fall and Thanksgiving.

Dinosaur Glass Block Nightlight

I have been trying to work on some glass block designs for Christmas gifts, but I did this one for my nephew's birthday. I am told he is really into dinos so I hope he likes this! I created the scene in Cricut Design Space and then cut it out from vinyl. There are LOTS of layers on this block, but it wasn't too bad layering them together. I found that if you layer the images on a separate sheet and then transfer the whole layered image to the block it made making the scene much easier! I have the subscription so I just picked and chose what I wanted.

Colored vinyl
Glass Block (I bought mine at Hobby Lobby 1/2 off on sale)

Artfully Sent Project

Hi everyone, today's post brings a whole new level to the Artfully Sent cartridge. It isn't just for cards and scrapbooking, but you can use it for home decor as well!! I missed the blog hop for this project and that makes me really sad and mad at technology, but I wanted to share this with everyone anyway. I hope it inspires you to make your own faux chalkboard.

I started with this silver metal platter that I found at Dollar Tree:
Then I painted the inside oval part with this chalkboard paint I had sitting around for another project that still hasn't been done.
I let the dry and then painted the outside green edge with just acrylic paint from Walmart. I then used the Joy image from pg.49 of the Artfully Sent cartridge. I ungrouped the image and chose just the "joy" part, which I cut out of white vinyl (here's a cheat, I don't use white viny, I use white contact paper). I added some swirls to finish it off from the Artbooking cartridge pg. 60.  After than was applied I took 3 pieces of chalk and crushed them up, dipped a napkin in it and smeared it around to season the board. It was a lot of fun to do and I am working on some other ones for Christmas gifts.

Red Nativity

I know, it's been a while again. This life thing just gets in the way with 3 kids, a husband, and a part-time job!!! I used the steps posted the last time I posted to make this Christmas ornament using Artfully Sent. Speaking of, there will be a lot more postings from that cartridge very soon! Here's today's project I wanted to share with you. It is going in a set as a Christmas gift to someone very special!

Step by Step Glitter Ornaments

Hi everyone, as promised here are the step by step directions on how to make your own glitter ornaments.
You will need the following:
*Minwax Polycrylic Wax (I found mine at walmart $8-$9
* Extra Fine Glitter (now I did not take a picture of mine because I used chunky and I am not as happy with the results as I was with my Grinch ones which did use Extra Fine) You can also find this at Walmart.
*Clear Glass Ornaments (some people have had luck with plastic but I am not one of them)
*small paper cups (again I used what I had on hand but will tell you the paper cups would be nice)

Now you will get all your supplies out and together. Take the top off the bulbs carefully! Pour some of the wax into a cup and then pour a generous amount into the bulb. I rolled mine around in circles to make sure that it was all coated, then I placed it upside down to let it drain and dry for 15 minutes. THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT STEP! If you do not let it dry your glitter will flake off.
While it is draining add some glitter to another cup. Once it is dry/drained pour a generous amount of glitter into the bulb. I used a napkin to cover the end and shook it around making sure that all of the inside bulb was covered in glitter. Empty the extra back into the cup.

I let mine set for a while to make sure the glitter set up. Then I put the top on. You can leave them this way or decorate them using vinyl. I am lucky enough to have a Cricut Explore so I decorated mine using images from the Close To My Heart Artfully Sent Cartridge. It did not come out like I had imagined in my head but I am still happy with it.
And here is an image of my Grinch ones that used Extra Fine glitter, which again, I highly recommend.  You can add ribbon to the top and they are perfect for a very special gift!
There you have it! Now go and create your own and please be sure to share a picture of yours on my facebook page Scrappinsweetie's Escape.

Catching up

I have been bad about posting here to the blog. I have it set to where when I post here it automatically posts to my FB page but I was finding people weren't seeing the posts that way or getting notifications that I had posted so I went back to just posting on FB myself. To catch up my blog followers, I have been a bit busy with life and a few crafting projects. I have been playing with some Artfully Sent, Artiste, and Artbooking cartridge projects. I have been having a lot of fun.

If you want further information on any of these, please check out the facebook page Scrappinsweetie's Escape and like the page :) There will be a give away on there soon when we reach 100 fans.

Fall is one of my most favorite times of the year. I love all the fall colors and the changes you get to witness in nature. When our new Inspirations book came out I was so excited to see the Pathfinding collection in it. The colors in it make my heart melt. As most of you know, I am also a mini album lover. When I saw this album done for Halloween by my fellow consultant, Brenda Rose, my first thought was this would be amazing for Christmas but I didn't want to wait that long then it hit me, it is PERFECT for the pathfinding collection and a Thankful album! So, here is a sneak peek of this album that will be coming shortly.

Mini Album

Hi everyone. I wanted to share a little something that I have been working on. This is a waterfall album that I was asked to make for a special mom to be. I was totally surprised because I didn't know this person at all but they had seen my work and wanted to know if I would make one. I was honored! I love the soft pink and black that they chose. The line is Kaiser Kraft Pitter Patter. I hope she will fall in love with it like I did!

Wow, what a long time since I have posted here! (If you follow me here but not on Facebook I would like to invite you to like my facebook page at Scrappinsweeties Escape where I have been better at posting at.)  November took a surprising turn that none of us were expecting that is for sure. Makayla Elexus was born on Nov. 6, 2013 weighing in at 7lbs 6oz.and was 19" long. She finally arrived by emergency C-Section when they found her breech. Luckily it all went ok, but it was very rushed and scary for a bit. Having a breech baby has brought a lot of interesting challenges from the recovery, to taking care of her. We are so very blessed to have her and I am finally back on my feet and getting things going. Yes, she turned 3 months yesterday but it sure doesn't seem like it has been 3 months already!! If you have not had or been around a breech baby before I can tell you that our breech baby came out in a 90 degree angle and stayed that way for over 2 weeks. Her legs finally relaxed and she is just fine now. There is not any worries about her hips as her sonograms have came back fine, praise God! So here is a few pictures of Makayla.
